Steel Toe
A steel toe is a protective cap built into the toe box, usually marked for impact and compression under ASTM F2413. Makers commonly describe it as the slimmer cap, and note that steel conducts heat and cold and may set off metal detectors. Whether a particular pair is rated is shown by the marking inside the boot, not by the material alone.
