Goodyear Welt
A Goodyear welt is a strip stitched around the edge of the boot that joins the upper and the sole, so the sole can be replaced without taking the boot apart. Welted constructions are the ones designed for resoling, but a safety-toe marking may not survive a repair, so ask the maker or the cobbler.
